English-based defender Dennis Lawrence, having been told by Swansea City that he will not be offered a new contract for next season, is likely to receive an offer to stay on with Crewe Alexandra after joining them on loan earlier this season.
“Crewe have been fantastic with me and it is an option,” Lawrence said.
In Crewe's favour is that Lawrence kept his home in nearby Wrexham despite his switch to South Wales three years ago.
"One of the reasons I left Swansea was because I want to be playing. I've come here and proved I've still got a lot to offer," he added.
"I'm not going to stop until my body and these legs tell me that's it.
"Crewe have got to start building for next season as soon as possible. They are a massive club and deserve to be at least in League One.
"They have to deal with the reality this season hasn't been good enough. But Gudjon has done tremendously well for the time he has had.
"He's shown what he's all about and he deserves the opportunity to try to take the club forward."
And Alex boss Thordarson commented: "Dennis is one of those players I will talk to. I think a lot of the squad already here can learn from my loan signings."

Defender Marvin Andrews says he hasn’t made up his mind as
to whether he will continue playing with Raith Rovers after guiding the club to
the Scottish Second Division title on the weekend.
“I don’t know if I’ll play on,” said Andrews. “I’m
going to go into prayer and ask God for direction where he wants me to be next
season.
“At this moment I don’t have the slightest idea.”
Rovers boss John McGlynn is determined to do everything in his power to hang on
to the big man.
“We’re very keen to keep Marvin Andrews,” he said.
“To say he’s a big character is an understatement and I don’t think it’s
coincidental that we’ve kept so many clean sheets since he came back.
“The timing of his coming back has certainly helped us over the winning line.
“We have a very tight budget but Marvin won’t just do something for the money,
so we have a chance of keeping him. I’d like to think we could.”
