WOMEN'S WORLD CUP EMBLEM LAUNCHED IN PORT OF SPAIN Print


“We are ready.” This was the assurance from Fifa vice-president, Jack Warner, as he gave the feature address at the unveiling of the official emblem for the 2010 FIFA  Under-17 Women’s World Cup on Saturday night at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Port-of Spain.

“I want to say that this country is as prepared as any, for this $25 million dollar event,” Warner boasted proudly. Specially invited guests were greeted by moko jumbies, fire breathers and the sound of tassa, before being treated by a number of top local acts which included H2O Phlo, Kay Allen and Denyse Plummer, the Guardian  reported.

GAY READY TO HELP T&T MAKE UP LOST GROUND AFTER 2010 EXIT Print

 

 Paraguay’s National Under 20 team head coach Adrian Coria says he wil not make the mistake and understimate Trinidad and Tobago when both teams clash in Cairo at the FIFA Under 20 World Championship on October 1.

In a recent FIFA.com interview, Coria spoke of his team’s readiness for the upcoming tournament, noting that his team had already beaten T&T 4-1 in an invitational tournament in Venezuela some weeks ago. But he changed his assessment of T&t following their narrow 3-2 loss to Brazil a few days later after being ahead 2-0.

THOMSON TO JOIN U20S ON MONDAY/GAMES ON VS USA,AUSTRALIA Print

 

 Trinidad and Tobago’s  National Under 20 footballers will go into back to back warm up internationals against Australia and United States on September 17 and 18 in Lanarca, Cyprus.

Head coach Zoran Vranes is also expected to have in his team on Tuesday, English-born Southampton midfielder Jake Thomson. The former England Under 17 international is expected to  finalize his T&T passport documents in London at the T&T High Commission on Monday prior to his flight to Cyprus.

UNDER 20S ARRIVE IN CYPRUS Print

 

 A Trinidad and Tobago 22-man National Under 20 squad arrived in Lanarca, Cyprus  on Friday night for  an eight-day live in training camp ahead of their arrival in Alexandria, Egypt for the upcoming FIFA Under 20 World Championship.

Head coach Zoran Vranes finalized the 22-man squad for the tournament this week during a camp in Antalya, Turkey which meant that he had the difficult task of cutting three players from his squad for the tournament. Those three players – forwad Trent Lougheed, defenders Jevon Morris and Nicholas Walker were the unfortunate ones. They parted ways from the rest of the team in London on Friday, heading  back to Port of Spain.
