LOC LAUNCHES VOLUNTEER PROGRAMME FOR FIFA 2010 WOMEN'S W/CUP Print


The Local Organizing Committee of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Trinidad and Tobago  2010 launched its volunteer programme for the tournament on Friday 12th March 2010.

The tournament which is scheduled to take place from September 5th- September 25th 2010, will see a total of sixteen (16) international teams participating .

However, along with these teams Trinidad and Tobago is expected to also host a number of local and international supporters, media and logistics personnel as well as FIFA officials and representatives from various National Football Federations.

Volunteers are an integral core resource for the successful staging  of this event hence a total number of approximately one thousand  (1,000) volunteers are needed to fill the various roles which necessary  for an efficacious staging of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Trinidad  and Tobago 2010.

As a result of their daily face-to-face contact and interaction with all stakeholders, volunteers are ambassadors for the event their friendliness and willingness to assist, will certainly create a lasting impression of the event.

Furthermore, volunteers will be representative of the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation/Local Organising Committee and by extension FIFA and as such they are expected to, at all times,  project a positive image of the host country.

  All volunteers will be specially trained in various key areas of responsibilities which are  listed below:

 
* Accreditation

 * Ticketing

 * Transportation

 * Media and Communications

 * Marketing

 * Match Day arrangements/Stadia Preparations

 * VIP Protocol/Hospitality

 * Logistics

 * Team Liaisons

 * Tournament and Match organisation

 
Role of the Volunteer


Primarily, the role of the volunteer is to provide assistance in the delegated area of responsibility but it must be stressed that volunteers must be committed  to the task and carry out the same in a friendly and professional  manner. They must be flexible and willing to provide excellent service  at all times.

 
Requirements

Persons interested in volunteering for our tournament must:

 - Be at least 18 years of age

 - The holder of a valid form of identification (e.g. national ID card, passport, driver’s licence)

 
- Must be articulate in the  English Language (knowledge of a foreign language will be an added  asset)

 - Be flexible and reliable

 - Be willing to commit to task

N.B. Prior experience in working in similar area  of responsibility of which they applied for will be an asset

 
Application Process


In order to achieve a well-equipped and capable team of volunteers, all applicants will be screened to determine area of expertise and suitability for our project.  The closing date for applications is 3rd May 2010 and all suitable candidates will be interviewed. Every applicant will be informed whether he/she has been chosen as a volunteer for the tournament.
