Jason Scotland took him three prestigious awards on Wednesday , being  awarded the Swansea the Player of the Year  trophy  and the Supporters Top player award at the club's annual awards dinner.

The Trinidad and Tobago hit-man walked away with three awards in the Evening Post sponsored event run in conjunction with the Supporters' Trust.

Scotland , who has scored 29 goals at the Liberty Stadium since moving from St Johnstone, also won the Away Player of the Year and Top Goalscorer awards.
Captain Garry Monk was voted Players' Player of the Year after a superb season at the heart of the Swans' defence.

Liverpool flyer Paul Anderson capped off his season-long loan by picking up the Young Player of the Year accolade.

New Welsh international Owain Tudur Jones was commended for his patience in his battle against injury and his work off the field by scooping the Clubman of the Year award.

The final presentation of the evening saw Professor David Farmer receive the Lifetime Achievement Award.

“It feels great to be recognized for my efforts and my aim is to try and help the club to even greater things next season. I’m just happy now that we’ve won the League and will be playing in the Championship Division next season,” Scotland said.

The former Defence Force striker has been linked to Derby County .

Avery John signs with Miami

Defender Avery John has signed up with United States League club Miami FC . John plus one other defender and a goalkeeper were signed with the aim of them improving the club’s title chances.

“I am still looking to have between 24 to 26 players signed however I will continue to exercise patience in holding out to make sure that we only accept the highest caliber of player to represent this organization,” Miami FC head coach Zinho said after the announcement.

John, formerly of MLS team New England , said he was looking forward to the new challege.

“I’ve played with a couple of teams in the USL-1 (formerly the American A-League) and I am aware of the level of talent that exists in the league,” he said. “I’m looking forward to the opportunity to play in Miami and contribute as soon as possible. This is all about winning a championship for me.”

Yorke, Latapy rated among top 50 in Britain

Former Trinidad and Tobago captains and ace midfielders Russell Latapy and  Dwight Yorke have been voted among the top 50 foreign players to ever play professionally in Britain by popular football publication FourFourTwo.

Yorke came in number 11 ahead of the likes of Ruud Gullit , Paolo Di Canio, Didier Drogba and Ruud Van Nistelrooy. Yorke is currently at Sunderland in the English Premiership

Latapy’s former teammate at Hibernian Stuart Lovell agreed with FourFour Two's assessment, ranking Latapy as one of the greatest players he has ever played with or against.

"Russell is a player with any amount of ability and the fact he is still able to do it in his late 30s is the sign of a very good player, only they can still make a contribution at that age.

"Any great player can kill the ball stone dead with one touch. That's the one common denominator they all have. Some are fast, some are strong, some are good athletes, but they all have one thing – a great first touch. Russell always seemed as if he had the ball on a piece of string."

Lovell recalled his trip to T&T in 2000 as a highlight of his career.

The former Australian internationalist said: "Russell was, and still is, a modest guy. I remember asking him on the way out there if anyone would bother to turn up to see us.

"He just gave me a wink and a smile and said 'one or two'. When we arrived we were whisked off to the VIP lounge, there was a steel band, they'd made up a new song about him – it was literally the red carpet treatment.

"We had security, purely to allow Russell the chance to get about without being mobbed – it was amazing. Speaking to a few of the locals, they were just stunned to see him. It was the sort of reaction you see David Beckham getting.

"Then Brian Lara, a world superstar in his sport of cricket, joined us for a night out. He had flown in from New Zealand to make sure he met up with his old pal. It was a real eye-opener,” Lovell said. Latapy, approaching 40, is still one of the top playmakers in the Scottish Premier League with Falkirk and both he and Yorke have  been invited to appear for T&T in the June 1 Centennial clash with England at the Hasely Crawford Stadium.
