WARRIORS GET A FEEL OF BERMUDA Print
Trinidad and Tobago ’s National senior footballers will have their first training session in Bermuda from 5pm (4pm T&T Time) on Friday following their arrival in Hamilton on Thursday night.

The Francisco Maturana coached team arrived there at around 8pm and were welcomed by a group of Trinidadians living on the island on Thursday  before checking into the  Grotto Bay Resort Hotel in Hamilton . There was sounds of steel and iron and flag waving fans to greet the team and word is at least 1,000 of them in the Stadium on  Sunday will be "Trinis".

Sunday’s game kicks off at 6:30pm T&T Time at the National Sports Centre which has a capacity of 4,400 and the Bermuda FA is hoping to add seating for another 750.

The  T&T 18-man squad with one standby  settled in and remain focused on Sunday’s affair which they need to win by two clear goals to advance to the semi-final stage.

The squad was announced with four changes. United Petrotrin striker Jerol Forbes comes into the 18 replacing Kareem Smith while Marvin Phillip replaces Clayton Ince, Michael Edwards for Ancil Farrier and Kevon Carter for Hayden Tinto. Smith will still travel as a 19th player.

“We really aren’t concerned with the atmosphere,” skipper Whitley told TTFF Media. “There’s nothing that will stop us from doing what we need to in order to get this result. This is a matter of win or go home and we definitely are not prepared to go home. Maybe yes we will coming back home on Monday but we are going to be coming back on a victorious note.”

During the in transit wait in Miami , while awaiting flight boarding, received the expected heckles from Bermudans going back home on the same American Airlines 308 flight.

“Bermuda is going to knock you out and we will create the history now,” one fan said with a huge grin. “ South Africa here comes Bermuda !”

There was at least a cheer for the T&T team on the AA flight out of Port of Spain as the flight captain ensured the passengers sent the team off with a round of applause.

“I’m from Bahrain as well so I know about Trinidad and Tobago . Good luck to the Soca Warriors. Are there any Bermudans on this flight,” he voiced over the flight’s sound system.”

Bermudan forward John Nusum meantime maintained his team was confident of finishing the job. He  told fifa.com :

"There's a real buzz! When we got back from Trinidad on Tuesday there were TV cameras and press and friends and family members waiting for us to offer their support," Nusum said. "It's a special time here."

With only a slim 2-1 edge going into the second leg, Nusum knows that T&T will not be keen to contribute to the party currently underway in Bermuda . "We're only halfway there, and we know that Trinidad are going to come out hard in the second leg," he said. "They'll be looking for a fight and we need to stand right up to them."

FIFA Vice President Jack Warner and other local football officials will arrive in Hamilton on Friday. Already here two days prior to the teams arrival was assistant manager Peter Rampersad and TTFF General Secretary Richard Groden.
