SCOTLAND NAMED ON PFA'S TEAM OF THE YEAR Print

T&T frontman eyes Golden Boot award

Trinidad and Tobago striker Jason Scotland has been named on the English Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Championship Division Team of the Year  for his outstanding scoring form for Swansea City this season.

Scotland will join a host of other high performers from the English Leagues including the Premiership at the Awards Ceremony at the Grosvenor Hotel, London later in the season.

This is the second time running that Scotland has been selected, having made the League One team last season. He is also currently in the running for the Golden Boot award, now tied in the top spot with Sylvan Ebanks-Blake of Wolverhampton Wanderers on 24 goals.

Scotland’s agent Mike Berry said the player was duly rewarded for his efforts.

“It’s fantastic news for Scotty because he has been in top form for Swansea all season and to hit the twenty goal mark in his first year in the Championship is a great accomplishment,” Berry told TTFF Media.

“He’s deserved every bit of credit and this is a fitting accolade for the boy. Now he’s focusing on getting the most goals and getting Swansea into the playoffs for promotion to the Premiership,” Berry added.

Scotland was this week linked to Premiership club Middlesbrough with reports stating

Boss Gareth Southgate is ready to bid for the player whether his club beats the drop or not.

Southgate  had scout Gordon McQueen take a  look at Scotland as he notched his 24th goal at Barnsley on Easter Monday. (April 17,2009)
