St Augustine Senior Comprehensive captured the League title in the BG T&T Secondary Schools Football League when they got the better of Presentation College, San Fernando 2-0 in the Big Five Final at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Malabar on Tuesday.
In a second half performance that contrasted the opening period, St Augustine took the lead with goals by Ishmael Clement and substitute Zavion Navarro.
Four different players were on target as bmobile Joe Public copped the $120,00 bmobile National Super League title with a 4-0 win over Alcoa Carenage United at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya on Sunday .
Less than 24 hours after its Pro League team had dethroned Clico San Juan Jabloteh as Digicel Pro League champions, the “Eastern Lions” Super League outfit captured the vacant title as closest challenger, T&TEC suffered a 3-2 setback against St Francois Nationals at the Youth Camp Ground, Chaguaramas.
At Macoya, Ricardo Bennett made it 1-0 as early as the fourth minute while Donovan Derrick added a second, a minute before the interval. Dorian Daniel extended the lead to 3-0 in the 87th minute while Kevon Piper sealed victory two minutes later.
With the win, Joe Public completed its schedule with 54 points, six more than debutants T&TEC which has one match left to play. At Chaguaramas, St Francois stunned the “Electricity Boys” when Wendell Douglas fired in a fourth minute opener.
However, T&TEC responded in style with a double from Jamal Ayres, in the 18th and 27th minute for a 2-1 lead at the half. Keron Edwards then scored in the 58th and 65th minutes for St Francois to lead 3-1 which it held until the final whistle.
As league runner-up T&TEC will pocket $65,000 while the battle is still on between Harvard, 1976 Angostura Phoenix, Defence Force, Queen’s Park and St Francois for the $33,000 third spot.Queen’s Park came up against Harlem Strikers in yesterday’s late match at Macoya. (Oct 25,2009)

National Senior Team striker Cornell Glen will undergo cruciate ligament surgery on Thursday in San Jose in a bid to return to full recovery.
Glen suffered the knee injury a few weeks ago and was forced to sit out T&T’s final two 2010 World Cup qualifying games and despite making a return to the San Jose Earthquakes team, scoring recently against Toronto, he was still experiencing discomfort in his knee and has opted to undergo surgery.
National Senior Team Head coach Russell Latapy, at the post game press conference after the 2-2 draw with Mexico, spoke of his contract coming to a close at the end of October and his intentions to stay on in his current position.
Latapy says he hopes to hold discussions with the TTFF on a possible future with National football.

The die hard fans of the “Soca Warriors” witnessed a gritty showing from their team as Trinidad and Tobago kept pace for 90 minutes to hold Mexico 2-2 in the final 2010 World Cup Qualifying encounter at the Hasely Crawford Stadium on Wednesday night.
No more than 4,000 fans showed up at the venue but those who did were treated to a fine exhibition of football as the Russell Latapy-led team turned up the tempo and then Mexico brought themselves back with an intense second half display.
