LOC LAUNCHES MASCOT FOR FIFA WOMEN'S U17 W/CUP
The Official Mascot of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup will be unveiled to the world following a major production at the Brian Lara Promenade in Port of Spain, Trinidad at 2:30 pm on Friday 9th July 2010.

The Launch of the Mascot represents another milestone achievement in the Local Organizing Committee’s journey to the host the most successful FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup to date.
Deputy CEO of the Local Organizing Committee, Ms Nataki Kerr describes the Mascot as a true representation of Trinidad and Tobago’s unique and diverse culture.

"This Mascot is a true representation of the spirit of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Trinidad & Tobago 2010.; She has a distinct “Trini” flavor but has crossover appeal with which the other teams can identify when they arrive. We are certain we will have a lot of fun with her in the lead-up to and during the World Cup.”

Kerr went on to add “We have designed a launch which is reflective of the atmosphere we hope to create at the various stadia during the World Cup. Friday’s event will be a double celebration, as the LOC will also be lunching the Official Theme Song for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.”
The Deputy CEO revealed that the Official Theme song for the event was written and produced by some of the country’s top performers.

“ I will not spoil the surprise , but Trinidad and Tobago is in for a treat. The fact that we have been able to attract some of the country’s most popular personalities to support this event is testament to the growing popularity of the Women’s Football. I am urging everyone, especially parents to bring their children out on Friday. We are all part of this U-17 Women’s World Cup”
In addition to the unveiling, Friday’s programme will feature presentations from Officials of Trinidad and Tobago’s Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs as well as a number of fun filled activities and giveaways for all spectators.

Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee Mr. Oliver Camps describes the launch as “another great achievement.”

“The Local Organizing Committee has been working assiduously to ensure the success of this event but we cannot achieve our goals unless we have the support of the population. I am urging Trinidad and Tobago to come out and support us on Friday as we show the world Trinidad and Tobago is the home of Women’s Football.”

The FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup will be played in Trinidad and Tobago from September 5th-25th 2010.

Sixteen teams will be participating in the event, which will feature matches at the five major stadia in Trinidad and Tobago — the Hasely Crawford Stadium; the Larry Gomes Stadium in Arima; the Manny Ramjohn Stadium in Marabella; the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva and the Dwight Yorke Stadium in Bacolet, Tobago.
