St Ann’s Rangers have won the first round of the Trinidad and Tobago Women League Football (WOLF) Premier League. Rangers women were formed just three years ago.
Promoted from the First Division in their first season, Rangers had a first difficult season in the women’s league, before emerging a force this year.
Unbeaten Rangers scored a fifth win in six matches on the weekend when beating Defence Force by 2-1 on the weekend, via goals by T&T national striker Jo-Marie Lewis and the captain Annalis Cummings.
In the other Premier Division match up, Civic Pioneers hosted St. Augustine FC and won 3-0 with goals from veteran midfielder Tasha St. Louis (2) and Shenelle Jordan. This is the second consecutive win for the Pt. Fortin based team as they heaved an army of goals on Defence Force last week Tuesday and won that game 6-1.
This moves the only South-based team in the Premier Division to fourth spot with two matches still to be played in the first round. Meanwhile, the only First Division match played saw Debe All Stars beat Diego Martin Central FC by a 2-0 margin. Laurel Romain scored both goals for Debe.
