HART DESCRIBES GROUP C AS 'TRICKY'

Trinidad and Tobago’s Senior Men’s Team will open their 2015 CONCACAF  Cup against Guatemala in Chicago on July 9th.

This was determined at the official draw for the competition in Philadelphia which was attended by Senior Team head coach Stephen Hart.

T&T will face the Guatemalans at Soldier Field in Chicago on July 9th in the opening match of a  Group C double header which will see Mexico taking on Cuba in the second outing.

T&T then faces Cuba on July 12th at the Phoenix Stadium in Phoenix and Mexico on July 15th at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.

A chance to upgrade your coaching skill

The Trinidad and Tobago Football Association will host a CONCACAF ‘D” License Coaching Course from March 19th -21st.

The objective of the course is to introduce coaches to the basics of coaching young players in a player-centred environment. The course will run for four days (at a venue to be announced) with the target group being coaches of players aged to 6-12 years old. Persons in this group can include coaches, parents and teachers.

Among the topics of the course are the role of the coach educator; Principles of Coaching; Principles of the Game; Age Appropriate training; Session training; Physical training; Small sided games; Goalkeeping; Health and Safety and Community Club development.

Trinidad and Tobago’s Men Under 17 Team will depart tomorrow for a ten-day training camp in Panama ahead of the CONCACAF Final Round of World Cup qualification in Honduras later this month.

Head Coach Shawn Cooper will take a 20-man squad to Panama where they will play four training matches including two against Panama’s National Under 17 team on Monday and Wednesday.

Cooper expressed optimism about the team’s chances heading into the tournament.

FIFA Development Officer Howard McIntosh paid a visit to this country on Friday during which time he attended meetings with officials of the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association and the Honourable Minister of Sport Brent Sancho.

McIntosh described the meetings as significant and expressed his satisfaction with the outcome of the discussions with the Sports Minister which he said augers well for the future of the local game and the relationships among the various parties including FIFA, CONCACAF, the TTFA and the Government.
