Lester Peltier joined the list of Trinbagonians celebrating Domestic titles this month when he scored to help Slovan Bratislava defeat MSK Zilina 2-0 in the Slovakian FA Cup final.

Peltier put his team 2-0 ahead in the 49th minute after  Igor Zofcak put the current League leaders ahead in the 27th.

The win meant Slovan were lifting the Cup for the sixth time since 1993 and they also copped the League title.

“It’s a great feeling to score in the final and help Slovan to the Cup title,” said Peltier.

“We’ve worked hard all season and personally for me it felt wonderful to be able to help the club realize its ambitions of winning the cup. It’s been a difficult season but we’ve done pretty well. We are top of the league table and now to win the cup is great achievement,” Peltier added.

Peltier joins Khaleem Hyland (Racing Genk), Jlloyd Samuel (Esteghlal, Iran League) and assistant coach Dennis Lawrence (Wigan Athletic, England) on the list of those winning titles outside of T&T this season.

SOURCE OF FUNDING FOR 2006 WORLD CUP PLAYERS SETTLEMENT

Throughout the course of the last couple days, TTFF Media has fielded a number of questions regarding the  source of the funding  which was used to settle the case involving the thirteen 2006 World Cup Players.

The TTFF will like to acknowledge that the source of the funding came about as a result of a CONCACAF audit which discovered unclaimed commercial and broadcast revenues that were due to the TTFF for 2014 World Cup cycle. Soon after Raymond Tim Kee’s appointment as President of the TTFF in December, the availability of the funds were brought to his attention.

Upon recognizing this and in keeping with his commitment to satisfy the outstanding obligation to the thirteen players, it was determined that applying these funds to the emerging settlement discussions was a just and reasonable action.

CONCACAF President Jeffrey Webb says significant steps have been made towards reforming the hemispheric organisation since he took over the position one year ago.
Webb says CONCACAF has been able to introduce measures aimed at restoring accountability in the body responsible for football in the Caribbean and Americas.
Webb was elected President to replace Jack Warner, who emerged at the centre of a major financial scandal and election bribery plot involving more than 20 Caribbean football leaders.

“Over the past year, we have seen the first steps towards reforming CONCACAF. By redefining our destiny, we have set the course that will write a new chapter in our region’s future,” said Webb. “Our goal is to bring back the trust and confidence by establishing a process of accountability,” added Webb. “It’s ultimately about the passion to play this beautiful game.”
